We agreed on one thing.

What started as this casual conversation about never having a cake from a particular bakery, ended up going into a full fledge discussion on who would not make the cut. It was going to be those people some would invite “just because”. The ones who were invited because they were family members of somebody we were close to. The additional guests that were chosen exclusively by our parents. The friends in the friend group we were not particularly close to. The list went on. it definitely helped us pass the time on the drive home as we learned more about each others’ point of view.

  1. Would the invites also extend to the kids of people we invite?
  2. Would you rather invite close co-workers only OR invite all co-workers who are part of the same social circle regardless of individual closeness?
  3. Would you be okay if the people you invite bring any plus one OR would you want to screen and approve their choice(s)?
  4. Would parent(s) and/or guardian(s) have a say in who gets invited?
  5. Are pet(s) allowed at the reception?
  6. Would every individual person we invite be offered the choice to bring a plus one?
  7. Would you rather invite select friends from the same friend group OR invite the whole friend group?
  8. Would you invite the same people who invited you to celebrate their wedding and/or major milestone?
  9. Would you rather invite only people you have spoken to within the past year OR invite anyone you feel close to regardless of how long it has been since you last made contact?
  10. Would you rather invite everyone who attended the wedding ceremony to the wedding reception OR invite certain people to the wedding, certain people to the reception and certain people to both?
  11. Would you invite anyone who does not approve of the relationship?
  12. Would you rather invite a lot of people and risk not having the time to connect with each one OR invite less people and be able to actually connect with all of them?
